HEALTH TALK: Your high heel habit is warping your walk

If you're a woman reading this from a cubicle, chances are your feet are currently squished into a pair of high heels. You may swear although they look painful, they're "so comfortable!" Sorry, your feet aren't buying it.
A new study suggests that the shoes you love are putting you at risk for muscle injury, even when you walk barefoot.
When you wear a high-heeled shoe, your foot is forced into a plantar-flexed position. In other words, you're pointing your toes as long as you've got the shoes on. Imagine Barbie feet.
Day after day of teetering in towering heels appears to shorten fibers in the calf muscle, and make the Achilles tendon stiffen instead of flex with each step, Both of these factors may contribute to muscle fatigue, and potential injury.
Researchers analyzed the way longtime high-heel lovers used their muscles to walk across the room, both with their heels and without, and compared their gait to that of women who generally wore flats. The nine habitual high heel wearers had worn heels of at least 5 centimeters (that's just under 2 inches) at least 40 hours every week for at least two years; the 10 control participants usually wore heels for less than 10 hours each week.
But we know better than to try to convince you to ditch the heels. Instead, try to limit the number of days you wear high heels to just a couple times a week, instead of Monday through Friday unlike me,i wear heels only when i'm going for a red carpet event or club. We wearers of flats will warmly welcome you back down to your level :p.
 let me leave you with this question;
How many days a week do you wear high heels? Does news of the damage it may be doing to your muscles make you want to cut back? Share your opinion here and on my facebook page.

The Biggest Fashion Shopping Mistakes and Guiding tips

Common Fashion shopping mistakes:
  1. If you are shopping for a cocktail (event) dress remember to bring your shoes. That way if you need to have in-store alterations you will be all set
  2. If you need to power shop remember to bring a list. This can help focus your attention and keep you on task.
  3. Nothing good will come from buying uncomfortable shoes regardless of how fabulous they are.
  4. Don't buy something you don't need because it is a fantastic sale price. I know we have all done this but it is a waste of money and closet space.
  5. Don't buy on impulse. Ask yourself the following questions when deciding if to buy. Do I need this? Does it fit with my lifestyle or wardrobe? Where am I going to wear this? If you are still undecided then put it on hold and if you are still thinking about it at the end of the day -buy it.
  6. Don't talk yourself into an outfit that isn't flattering to your frame. There are only two kinds of clothes in this world. Clothes that flatter you and clothes that don't and avoid the latter regardless of how popular
     and trendy they are.
  7. It is one thing to go shopping with your girlfriends because that can be very social and enjoyable but keep in mind don't shop with a competitive friend because she will cajole you into buying more and possibly unflattering items weather or not you need it.

Fashion Shopping tips for you

  1. Spend money on great shoes because they can make or break an outfit. You can even wear them with jeans and look fabulous!
  2. Buy items that fit your lifestyle. If you know you are going to live in your jeans then it is ok to spend $150 a pair especially if you had to try on dozens to find the right fit. Buy clothes to suit your lifestyle.
  3. Spend money on staples on shoes, bags, a cashmere sweater, a black pair of pants and skimp on belts, socks, trendy tops, scarves, hats and sunglasses.
  4. Before you shop know what you own. Make a point to go through your closet at the beginning of every season.
  5. Invest in undergarments because the right foundation garments can make everything you own look better

Stylish Footwear for Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are immensely popular in men’s fashion speak today; perhaps more so than ever in the past. While it takes a certain body type to be able to pull these off (men with large thighs, for example, should stick to a more relaxed fit), they can be very attractive when worn by the right guy. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of wearing skinny jeans is learning how to accessorize with them in an effective manner. This is especially true when it comes to choosing footwear to wear along with skinny jeans, a scenario in which many people don’t know where to start. The fact is, you can wear practically any style of footwear with skinny jeans, so long as the item meets certain criteria for being complimentary. The following tips can help you to pair three common styles of footwear with skinny denims, and are essential for those who wear these types of jeans regularly...
 1. LOAFERS: Believe it or not, the loafer is one of the most versatile styles of shoes to wear with skinny jeans, and are the perfect choice for both casual and business-casual scenarios. Loafers are ideal for summer wear without socks, but can just as easily be worn during a mild winter with a thicker pair of wool socks. When pairing with skinny jeans, brown or tan are typically the best choices for colors, although black can work as well. Stick to loafers that are a bit more casual. Canvas loafers or so-called “driving shoes” are excellent choices here. In order to attract a bit more attention to your footwear, stick to tassled loafers, which are prized for their eye-catching appearance. Dark-washed skinny jeans are preferable when pairing with loafers, as lighter-colored jeans tend to provide less contrast than the alternative.

2. LOW TOPS: Low tops are perhaps the perfect option for those who are relatively new to wearing skinny jeans and don’t want to take any risks in terms of how they accessorize them. In order to get the most out of pairing with low tops, stick to those which are clean and sleek in appearance; solid white with perhaps some neutral highlights will be the best option. This pairing is extremely versatile, in that it can be worn during an evening out at the club, or simply walking down sidewalk on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Since low tops tend to be relatively inexpensive in comparison to other, more formal types of footwear, you may want to own a few different pairs, which can really open up the versatility of your wardrobe.

3: MILITARY BOOTS: Military boots are very much in style at the moment, and are perfect for those who are looking for footwear that naturally draws attention to itself. Typically worn in informal situations, these boots not only provide adequate protection for your feet during the colder, wetter times of the year, but are perfect for pairing with heritage/vintage pieces for an urban, yet rugged look. Choose a slim-lined boot constructed out of tumbled brown leather; bison leather is an excellent material for this application. Remember that your boots will be more attention-grabbing if they feature metal buckles, which are typically added only for aesthetic purposes. Perhaps the most important thing to determine is whether to tuck the jeans in or wear them over the top of the boots. In most cases, skinny jeans will cling to the bottom of the leg, leaving little in terms of leeway for layering. As a result, this look is most effective when the jeans are tucked in.

Quick Note on Matching skinny jeans with ties:
Skinny jeans are perfect for a trendy look consisting of slim fitted shirt, sports coat with narrow lapels, and a solid color skinny tie. One of my favorite looks pairing skinny ties with slim fitted jeans: Black skinny jeans, paired with gray chucks, slim fitted white shirt, corduroy fitted sports coat in gray with narrow lapels, this solid white pocket square, this charcoal gray skinny tie, and the following silver tie clip - a GQ worthy look that will definitely give yu a ton of compliments!
